The chili dogs frequently steal the show here, earning rave reviews for their perfectly soft buns and delicious moist dogs topped with flavorful meat sauce. Many appreciate the nostalgic decor, which creates a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for both quick bites and leisurely meals.
The variety on the menu is another highlight; with 88 plates, there’s something new to try on every visit. Most Disliked
Some diners may find the lack of waitstaff a downside, as orders are placed at the counter. This could discourage those who prefer traditional table service. Also, on busy days, like Monday at noon, the influx of customers may lead to longer wait times for food, extending the experience beyond what some planned for. Even with a cozy atmosphere, the dining area can become crowded during peak lunch hours, making it feel less comfortable for those looking for a quieter meal.
While many menu items shine, a few guests have mentioned that they found some dishes less flavorful than expected, particularly when compared to the standout options like the chili dog. Visitors should also prepare for limited dessert choices, which can leave a little to be desired after the main meal. Overall, these points add to the varying experiences diners may encounter.

Some really really good Dawgs! Staff is friendly and lots of different food to chose from. They also have desert. Plus you can get your own refills. Great place to grab some good food and they have a drive thru, plus a really cool dine in area with lots of old signs, history and pictures. Give them a try you’ll like it.

Straight out of my childhood, the perfect mid-western chili dog. If you know, you know. Perfect soft bun, moist dog, and tasty meat sauce. Good solid tamale too. We got the special with 2 dogs, a good deal. Cole slaw good too. I traveled 2,000 miles and it was totally worth it for this dog alone.

Great hot dogs! I always get the Chicago Dog. It's just a small place, nothing fancy! You order & pick up in front. No wait staff. We got our food quickly!

My husband and I happened on this place today while we were out looking for some lunch. We both got chili dogs and split some cheese fries. If you remember Velvet Freeze in Peoria from the "old days" this is the place for you. The food was great, Chris's shake was perfect and the people were super nice. Thumbs up from both of us.
